STAR MICRONICS PRINTER TESTS

1) PRINTER CONNECTED TO PARALLEL PORT LPT1:

At the DOS prompt, send a directory listing to the printer by typing the following:

dir > lpt1

RESULT: The current directory listing will be printed on the printer attached to the LPT1 parallel port.

2) PRINTER CONNECTED TO PARALLEL PORT LPT2:

At the DOS prompt, send a directory listing to the printer by typing the following:

dir > llpt2

RESULT: The current directory listing will be printed on the printer attached to the LPT2 parallel port.

3) PRINTER CONNECTED TO A SERIAL (RS232) PORT COM1:

Set the printer DIP switches for factory default as noted be low. The factory default settings are DTR mode (for DOS), baud rate = 9600, 1 stop bit, no parity, 8 bit word. The default setting for the Star Micronics RS232 serial printers is all DIP switches are "on". Please verify the settings. For your convenience, the Star Micronics printer DIP switch settings are noted below.
